Groundwater Modeling at Jurong Island using MODFLOW 2005

The project objective is to gain insight in the maximum pumping rates that are possible without overstressing the aquifer resulting in saline water (seawater) intrusion and land subsidence. The field data showed that applying a pumping rate of 250 m3 per day, no seawater intrusion was observed. Potential pumping rates of 1000 m3, 2000 m3, and 3000 m3 per day should be simulated, assuming that this is the only pumping location on Jurong Island. A larger area to model is foreseen in the future, but first the zone of influence must be ascertained.
